Review
In this review of the Garmin GolfLogix, we'll start by looking at some of the product features. This GPS is user-friendly and displays key yardage distance for when you are on the course. Its calculations are both precise and instant. You can use it to calculate to the back, front, or center of the greens or hazards. There are more than 21,800 courses available and your unit can hold up to 20, so keep all of your favorite units in the GolfLogix.
Reviews list the great visibility of the 2.25” X 1.25” LCD as one of the highlights of the GolfLogix GPS-8 by Garmin. It's shockproof, waterproof, and can be seen in direct sunlight. Another good point in the review of the GolfLogix is that it's compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows 2000, XP, and Vista. The battery life is 22 hours. It comes with a bag or belt clip, AA batteries, and a USB-serial cable.
Now for the negative in this review of the Garmin GolfLogix: poor customer service. While most customers have a wonderful experience, some models will lock up over time or are duds, as with any electronics that you buy. At this time, some customers have had unsatisfactory experience with the customer service for the Garmin GolfLogix. This isn't a critique of the the product itself, and hopefully the issue will be resolved by next year.

Garmin
Garmin is well known for its highly accurate and high quality GPS units. It's not surprising that their golf course GPS is the most popular on the market. They beat the other popular brand, Sky Caddy, with their ease of use. Garmin was founded in 1989 in Witchita, Kansas. Their first product was aimed at the marine market and was a panel-mounted GPS receiver that they called the GPS 100.
They continued to make newer and more advanced GPS models, including their Golf GPS line, and Garmin is perhaps the best-known of all the GPS companies.
Golf
If you want a GPS to help your golf game, the Garmin GolfLogix is a good choice. Since it's a handheld GPS-8 device, you can easily carry it with you as you play your round of golf. You don't need to have a direct line of sight to the hole or hazard to use the GolfLogix during your golf game because you don't need to point it or aim it for it to work.
If you are playing in a USGA competition or sanctioned event, you'll want to check with a professional before you play to see if the Golf Logix is allowed under the rules. Of course, if you are playing golf for recreation, GPS devices are allowed in handicap scoring.
